The Russian beauty Olga Diyachenko took to her social media page to console and encourage her husband after the disappointing start to the tournament. 10 Extraordinary Things People Did While In A Coma

10 Won The Copa Sudamericana Photo credit: people.com In November 2016, Brazilian soccer was struck by tragedy. LaMia Flight 2933 crashed in northern Colombia, killing all but three of the Chapecoense players en route to Medellin, where they were scheduled to play in the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana final. The survivors were left-back Alan Ruschel, goalkeeper Jakson Follman, and center-back Helio Hermito Zampier Neto, who remained in a coma for two weeks after his rescue. Eventually, Neto came around with no memory of the crash in mid-December.In the meantime, Atletico Nacional, Chapecoense’s fellow finalists, had graciously requested that South American soccer’s governing body, CONMEBOL, award the title to their opponents as a gesture of solidarity. Although the tragic circumstances mean that it’s little more than a footnote, Neto had become a champion from his hospital bed without kicking a ball.[1]9 Broke A World Record Photo credit: wptv.com Two people have broken a world reco...

Ebola in Sierra Leone – the joy of survivors

Image
Ebola in Sierra Leone – the joy of survivors I travelled upcountry last week to one of the worst affected areas of Sierra Leone – Kenema. When you arrive in the town, there’s a feeling that Ebola has settled in with no plans to move any time soon. Chlorine buckets sit outside most restaurants for people to wash their hands; Ebola information posters are plastered on buildings; crackly radios are loudly broadcasting conversations about Ebola; people are talking about ‘dis Ebola bisnis’ relentlessly on the street; and handshaking has been replaced by a brush of the elbows. Spending a few days around people who have been tragically affected by this disease was an unforgettably sad experience. I was however heartened by meeting some of the lucky people who are surviving Ebola. Sierra Leone is now recording the highest number of new cases each week of all the West African countries affected, including Guinea and Liberia. What makes this outbreak unique though, is the increasing numbe...

Man Bleaches His Skin With Acid To Look Like Michael Jackson

Image
A Brazilian Michael Jackson superfan used acid to lighten his skin and spent about £2,000 on a series of cosmetic procedures to look like his hero. Antonio Gleidson Rodrigues, 32, the self-proclaimed number one Michael Jackson impersonator in Brazil, has had rhinoplasty in order to imitate the King Of Pop and spends around four hours each day rehearsing his dance moves. Gleidson Jackson, as he likes to be known, had his first operation five years ago when he had his nasal septum corrected to allow him to reach higher notes when singing. He said: 'I wasn't able to reach notes like Michael before but after surgery I can now sing some notes in falsetto.' Following his first bid at surgery, Gliedson, of Fortalenza, continued in his mission to imitate the world famous pop star by having hyaluronic acid injected into his face, which had a whitening effect, and botox injections to enhance the area under his eyes. The former drama teacher also ...
